Greater red zone safety performance

Published:  29 July, 2021

Salunda says its new Crew Hawk Analytics provides faster, easier and more accurate decision-making capabilities in the offshore oil and gas sector, delivering enhanced levels of safety protection and management of people and assets in the drilling Red Zone.

Offering real-time and recorded operational data to enable the driller to better monitor and assess important functions, Salunda Analytics is part of the advanced Crew Hawk location tracking system, which integrates multiple technologies into an effective zone management network. This tracks the locations of people and moving equipment on the drill floor in real time, providing position tracking performance to avert incidents, and reduce the risk of workplace injuries and accidents.

Crew Hawk Analytics captures hundreds of items of information and presents it as easy-to-understand intelligence to plot trends and identify metrics, which offshore operators can then use to optimise processes and boost the efficiency of worker safety systems and protocols.

Salunda analytics offers real time operational performance data to track individual and machinery warning patterns against actual alarm activations. This can provide the operator with indicative system behaviour capabilities, which for example, will trigger an automatic shutdown to prevent a drill floor incident before it happens and stop unplanned interaction between people and machinery, raising further the levels of all-round rig safety and protection.

After action reports provided by the system are also available in the form of recorded data that can be used to quickly analyse and assess the number of alarms/warnings per job role/function, type of operation, unit rig time or cumulative rig time among myriad critical functions.

Crew Hawk Analytics can also be used to track and assess the effectiveness of individual job functions, comparing agreed plans against a number of pre-agreed metrics such as actual alarms over time, warnings over time and total alerts by operation.

Alan Finlay, CEO at Salunda, said: “Our world class data analytics’ capability provides the type of added value, real world information increasingly helping offshore oil and gas operators to make faster, smarter and more informed decisions. In turn, this allows them to boost productivity, and manage their drilling assets far better while delivering the highest standards of operational and safety performance.”

Salunda has established a reputation as experts in rapidly delivering robust monitoring solutions for harsh environments, which ensure a safer workplace, improve efficiency, and reduce non-productive time during drilling. More details at www.salunda.com
