Survitec, Evacuator World Wide B .V., 3sun Group, East of England Offshore Wind Skills Centre, OSL Consulting, Spirit Energy, Laytrix Ltd, Global Marine Group and Osbit were among the winners of the coveted 2019 EEEGR (East of England Energy Group) awards held recently at the historic Dunston Hall in Norwich. The winners were announced at a glittering awards ceremony and gala dinner sponsored by ScottishPower Renewables.

Now in its 15th year, the EEEGR awards provide a platform for the energy industry to celebrate innovation, excellence and the outstanding achievements and developments that have taken place in the sector over the past 12 months.

Awards were presented in seven categories including EEEGR Member of the Year which was given to East Coast College for their continued support of EEEGR, particularly in relation to the Skills for Energy Programme and specifically the Energy Skills Foundation Programme which has seen over 250 students complete the course now in its tenth year, and Outstanding Contribution to the Energy Sector which was given to the UEA’s Professor Lawrence Coates who has supported 76 MSc, 59 BEng and 11 MEng students during his seven year tenure and who has always been a keen advocate of EEEGR, ensuring that the UEA is present at all major EEEGR events providing students with exposure to the countless opportunities within the energy sector.

Other winners were awarded for their innovative solutions to industry wide problems such as bridging the skills gap by providing technical training for the locally unemployed, reducing the cost of decommissioning pipelines with a cost effective system which will support operators in reducing their environmental risks and remove long term liabilities and lowering health and safety risks of working on offshore wind turbines by developing an emergency descent system.

Simon Gray, EEEGR CEO said: “It’s great to see such amazing innovations from the supply chain in the region and beyond and to celebrate them with the EEEGR membership, it’s the ideal way to another successful year in the industry.”
