Published:  04 May, 2022

Independent SAP solutions specialist AG Consultancy & Apps (AG), has announced it has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Greig McDonald (pictured) to lead its next phase of strategic growth in Aberdeen, and drive further opportunities for the business in the energy sector and heavy industries.

The firm is experiencing a steady increase in demand from companies looking to improve their SAP system capabilities to streamline complex business processes and improve efficiencies. In particular, it has seen a healthy boost across each of the key focus areas of SAP EAM, Core SAP (e.g. as S/4HANA & AMS) and Intelligent Technologies (e.g. Process Mining & RPA/Automation).

As a result, the organisation has also recently recruited 10 personnel to support oil and gas campaigns in Aberdeen and has plans to expand the team by a further 25 in the coming months.

AG is headquartered in Slough, Berkshire with delivery centres across India serving clients and projects across Europe, Middle East, APAC, and the Americas. Last year, AG was recognised as one of Europe’s fastest-growing companies in the FT1000. The company was also selected by Saïd Business School (part of the University of Oxford) to join its 10KSB growth programme, which is sponsored by Goldman Sachs.

Based at the company’s Aberdeen base within the Mariscal Square development, Mr McDonald joins AG with more than a decade’s experience of leading and managing SAP enterprise software divisions for several North Sea and Middle East operators and top tier supply chain companies. This includes Subsea 7, where he was most recently for almost four years, as well as North Oil Company Qatar, Maersk Oil, and CNOOC.

On taking up his new role as AG’s associate director SAP Services, Mr McDonald said: “Digitalisation is an area of high investment and is progressing rapidly across businesses, so it’s an exciting time to join AG which is already pushing boundaries using SAP, the global market leading solution used to manage business operations.

“With my experience and insight coupled with AG’s SAP credentials, I am looking forward to leveraging these strengths to spearhead significant efficiencies for our clients. AG’s competitive edge in having strong an on-shore and off-shore team not only brings deep local, industry and technology expertise but also the scalability to deliver exceptional value for money.”

AG was set up in 2014 by co-founders Francis Rajan and Nick Champion to close a gap in the market by providing value orientated, high quality multi-specialist SAP consulting and support services combining deep expertise of the software with rich industry knowledge. Clients include Spirit Energy and Neptune Energy.

Mr Rajan added: “With Greig’s appointment and his vast network of contacts, our strategic plans to increase our client base in the North Sea and across the asset-intensive sectors such as oil and gas, renewables, petrochemical, and utility companies, as well as organisations with large facilities or specialist manufacturing equipment maintenance requirements, is well underway. With our growing team of SAP experts in Aberdeen, the business is in pole position to win new contracts and further augment its leading position for delivering reliable, valuable and agile SAP solutions that can deliver exceptional outcomes with tangible returns.”

AG has multiple SAP specialisms across the dynamic and high growth disciplines of enterprise asset management (EAM), Intelligent technologies (including RPA, AI/ML, Process & Task Mining & Low Code/ No Code) and Core SAP (inc’ S/4HANA upgrades, M&A, S&A and Data).
