Turbine order secured

Published:  06 March, 2019

Peter Brotherhood, part of Avingtrans PLC, reports it has secured an order to supply steam turbines for a floating production vessel. As part of the deal, which is worth in excess of £10 million and is expected to be delivered during 2020, the business has also secured an option to provide a similar set of turbines for a yet-to-be-confirmed, potential future vessel.

The order follows a similar project that saw Peter Brotherhood supply components for the world’s first FLNG vessel conversion - the Hilli Episeyo - which successfully commenced production offshore Cameroon earlier this year.

The Peterborough, UK - based company is rapidly becoming the market leader for these specialist turbines, developing an international reputation for engineering highly-specialised components for this niche oil and gas sector.

Austen Adams, divisional managing director of Avingtrans’ Process Solutions and Rotating Equipment division, said: “Securing these orders is a great start to the year and builds on our reputation as a genuine world leader in this highly-challenging, niche market.

“The turbines supplied by Peter Brotherhood are one of the first major components in the build sequence, so our team’s performance is critical to the success of each vessel’s conversion.

“The orders recognise the expertise and reputation for reliable, high-quality engineering our team has developed over the years and provide another example of how UK manufacturing continues to make its mark on the global stage.”
