North Sea fatality

A man has died on an offshore platform in the North Sea, 97 miles off Aberdeen.
Police Scotland in Aberdeen were made aware of a death offshore at around 4.40am this morning (Thursday 4th September).
The incident occurred on the Unity platform and enquiries to establish the circumstances are on-going.
Oil & Gas UK health & safety director Robert Paterson released a short statement: “We are shocked and saddened to hear there has been a fatality offshore today. While we are awaiting further details of this incident, our immediate thoughts go to the family, friends and work colleagues of this individual. Oil & Gas UK will look to ensure that any lessons which can be learned from this tragic event are shared across the industry."
