£100m fund to help UK firms

Published:  28 June, 2019

Commenting on the launch of a £100m fund to help UK firms capitalise on the boom in offshore wind, Sebastian Speight, managing director of Infrastructure at Ingenious, said:

“The launch of the offshore wind industrial strategy is a positive move which will help develop the domestic supply chain in what is likely to be a growth industry over the coming decades as the UK decarbonises its energy supply. In order to drive long-term benefits from an industrial strategy, however, there needs to be commitment across government to tackle a range of factors affecting long-term investment decisions including skills base, structural labour costs, tax advantages and macro-economic factors such as Brexit.”

Ingenious is a FCA regulated alternative investment manager that specialises in media, infrastructure, real estate and education. Founded in 1998, the company has raised and deployed over £9 billion of capital on behalf of clients across all the operating divisions since inception.

The infrastructure team has deployed over £700m in energy infrastructure projects since it was established in 2011 across the UK, Republic of Ireland and Australia. A dedicated team of some 40 investment professionals have experience across investment, finance, law, accountancy and engineering. The infrastructure management team benefits from lengthy experience in the origination, execution and management of energy efficiency projects on the premises of commercial and industrial customers, in addition to its broader experience in the development and operation of energy generation projects within the renewables sector.
