Efficiency efforts under the spotlight at key conference

Published:  26 May, 2016

The steps oil and gas companies are taking to steer their way through the downturn will come under scrutiny at a major industry conference being held in Aberdeen.

Cost and efficiency is an overarching theme of the Oil and Gas Industry Conference – Open for Business event organised by Oil & UK and taking place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on June 14th and 15th.

The huge potential for the supply chain to contribute to efforts to improve efficiency will also be debated at the event which will feature some of the biggest names in the operator and contractor communities.

Stephen Marcos Jones, business excellence director with Oil & Gas UK, said: “Industry is working extremely hard on ways of being more efficient and more competitive and sustainable in possibly the most demanding business climate we have ever navigated our way through.

“Sessions with key speakers from industry, Government, other business sectors, the unions, and academia will explore the big issues of the day. Topics include what companies have done to improve operational performance, how technology can play a major role in boosting the UKCS’ global competitiveness, the steps being taken to stimulate exploration and the challenges of unlocking global markets for UK goods and services.

“Now, more than ever, we need to come together to secure the future of our sector. We may be in a downturn but there is a lot of life left in the North Sea with around 20 billion barrels of oil and gas still within our grasp. The conference will demonstrate that despite present difficulties, the sector is still determinedly focused on the future and is still very must open for business.”

This year, for the first time, Oil & Gas UK is offering an efficiency ticket which is transferable between employees from the same organisation, allowing them and their colleagues to pick and choose the sessions they wish to attend.
